Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required)

Must possess a current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Must possess current certification in CPR.
Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases: asthma management, diabetes, insulin pen and pumps, seizure management.
Ability to perform skilled nursing care such as catheterization, suctioning, gastrostomy feeding tubes, insulin administration, insulin pump skills, and nebulizer treatments.
Computer skills. A baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
Experience in pediatric and/or communi/r public health nursing is preferred.
Prior experience in school nursing or an acute care setting is preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in nregularclassrooms, outdoors, and on the phone; physical agility to lift to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching and handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
