Treatment/Wound Nurse

 

As a Treatment/Wound Nurse at Whispering Oaks Rehab & Nursing , you will be responsible for performing resident skin assessments, obtaining treatment orders, administering treatments as ordered, and documenting appropriately to help ensure that resident skin integrity is improved and/or maintained. Other duties and job details to be discussed at interview.

The Wound Care Nurse duties at Whispering Oaks Rehab & Nursing include:

  • Provides patient, family and staff education regarding prevention of pressure ulcers and therapeutic support services, dressing selection and adjunctive therapy.
  • Collaborates with clinical staff, physicians and other members of the treatment team to provide the patient with the highest quality and most appropriate wound care.
  • Acts as a resource for the treatment team and clinical staff and assists with staffing as assigned.
  • Trains and manages the Wound Care Team Members to include orientation, competency validation and in-service training.
  • Organizes and directs the interdisciplinary Wound Care Committee
  • Perform additional duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Projects a professional image.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of wound care related products and procedures preferred.
  • Identification and utilization of industry evidence base standards related to wound care.
  • Knowledge of comprehensive wound management including wound assessment, formulation of treatment plan, recommendation of appropriate wound dressing, documentation, evaluation, education, data collection, surveillance and outcome data preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Order entry, data input etc.)

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Active/Valid RN/LVN nursing license in the state of Texas. (Required)
  • Minimum of (1) year of comprehensive wound management including wound assessment, formulation of treatment plan, recommendation of appropriate wound dressing, documentation, evaluation, education, data collection, surveillance and outcome data.
  • Knowledge of principals of infection control.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current professional nursing license for the state of Texas.
  • Must maintain current BLS certification and CPR certification throughout employment.
  • Wound Care Nursing Certification and Wound Debridement Certification preferred.
