Chester County Hospital - Nursing Extern Program Start Date: Monday June 22, 2025 Summer Requirements: June, July and August – 36 hours a week (3/12 hour shifts) Fall and Spring Semester – 2/12 hour shifts a month (Saturday and/or Sundays) The Nurse Extern-to-RN Program is a training and mentoring program designed for students currently enrolled in an eligible BSN program who wish to pursue a nursing career at Chester County Hospital (CCH) after becoming licensed to work as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The program offers advancement of clinical knowledge and skill by working directly with a CCH registered nurse. The extern will gain a greater level of self-confidence, communication, critical thinking skills, time-management skills and clinical competence through reinforcing the fundamentals of nursing education, theoretical knowledge, awareness of the role of the professional nurse and the understanding of organizational structure and operations within an acute care setting. Externships last approximately one year and begin in June each year. Externs are paid an hourly rate and required to work full-time (35+ hours per week) during the summer and two 8 or 12 hour shifts per month during the school year. Externs may also work supplemental hours as a nursing assistant, tech, or behavioral safety assistant when these hours are available. Externs who successfully complete the program, obtain their BSN, pass the NCLEX and become licensed in the Commonwealth of PA are guaranteed an RN position at CCH. There is no guarantee of desired shift, specialty or weekly scheduled hours (FTE). Externs who decrease their regularly scheduled hours or resign from employment voluntarily are required to reimburse some or all of the program cost. Requirements: · Enrolled in good standing in an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) program; and currently in the last year of study. Completion of courses in med-surge nursing; and has completed at least two clinical rotations in a hospital setting. Current CPR certification is required After Completion of program · Employment as a CCH registered nurse is assured to the successful nurse extern after completing the Extern Program, obtaining their BSN degree and taking and passing the NCLEX and holding licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania. · At the onset of the Nurse Extern-to-RN Program, the Extern agrees to continue employment in the position of RN at CCH for a period of 18-months. There is no guarantee of shift, specialty or full/part-time status in the position as a CCH RN. Selection is done through posting the position on the CCH Career Website. The Talent Acquisition Specialist goes through all applicant applications and choose the top five for each department to be phone screened. If the Talent Acquisition Specialist feel they meet the qualifications for the position they then set up and interview with the Clinical Managers and Department Director to interview. The Manager and Director meet with HROD to discuss who is best candidate to be offered position. Offer is made by HROD to candidate. The Assistant Director serves as a key member of the Office of International Services (OIS) leadership team, providing strategic oversight and operational management for international student admissions, services, and compliance. Reporting to the Director of International Programs, this position holds full accountability for ensuring efficient workflows, accurate application processing, and compliance with federal regulations governing international students. The Assistant Director manages the review and evaluation of international undergraduate applications, oversees scholarship administration for undergraduate and graduate students, and ensures graduate applications are complete for departmental review. As a Designated School Official (DSO), the Assistant Director is responsible for issuing and maintaining I-20 records, monitoring F-1 visa compliance, and serving as a primary resource for students on immigration and academic matters. The role also leads onboarding and orientation programs for new international students each semester and provides ongoing advising to support student success. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Assistant Director contributes to strategic enrollment goals by coordinating recruitment activities, assisting with marketing initiatives, and fostering collaborative relationships across campus. The position actively participates in OIS team meetings to address emerging issues and advance internationalization efforts at Rutgers–Camden. The Assistant Director maintains professional expertise through continuous engagement with regulatory updates and best practices (e.g., NAFSA, USCIS, Department of State) and may supervise OIS staff in the Director’s absence.
