 St. Croix Health is looking for a full time (1.0 FTE), House Supervisor RN to join our team!  This position works straight nights (7 pm - 7:30 am), every third weekend and holiday. 


The House Supervisor is a representative of patient care/hospital administration on all shifts. The  position safeguards the quality of patient care, meeting the needs and goals of St. Croix Health. The  House Supervisor is responsible for the management and coordination of all hospital departments and  personnel on the off shifts and weekends in the absence of direct line managers. Overall, the House  Supervisor serves as an advocate for patient care, staff, and the hospital as a whole. Assuring high  quality patient care services are provided in accordance with SCH mission/vision, values, service  behaviors, policies/procedures, and regulations. The House Supervisor oversees effective patient  placement, assures adequate staffing resources and safe and effective care delivery in the absence of  the direct line manager and on all off shifts and weekends. 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  1. Competent in the Emergency Department Nurse Staff Role  
  2. Act as a liaison between patient care units, support departments and organizational leadership, medical staff and other disciplines to assure safe and effective delivery of care in accordance with hospital policy/procedures and protocols or other clinical guidelines. 
  3. Support overall patient care departments operating goals and needs by managing the off shifts, weekends, and holidays according to established plans for safe and effective staffing to ensure high quality patient care. 
  4. Collaborate with all disciplines, providers, and patient families to achieve mutually defined patient care goals.  
  5. Provide shift oversight for patient care practices, nursing care accountability for safe and effective delivery of care.   
  6. Ensure uninterrupted quality of care by assisting with transitions of care.  
  7. Analyze and evaluate complexities and volumes of nursing care required and adjust staffing resources accordingly.  
  8. Initiate discipline as needed to address emergent needs in any department during the off shift and weekend coverage and when there is not a designated dept. supervisor readily available or in-house.  
  9. Consult immediately with department leaders and/or administrators to review situations and processes to follow. 
  10. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities. 
  11. Make critical adjustments and contacts to obtain needed equipment, services, and resources.  
  12. Conduct regular rounds to all clinical care units to ensure resource needs and clinical care needs are discussed, and solutions explored/implemented to support overall goals and patient care needs. 
  13. Provide oversight and acts as a resource for clinical staff. 
  14. Intervene in patient/family or provider complaints, supporting effective communication and conflict resolution. Provides necessary documentation of events and initiates appropriate follow-up. 
  15. Act as a liaison to Infection Control; serving as clinical resource, ensuring negative air pressure status is achieved, assisting with employee TB skin testing, fit testing if necessary, obtaining necessary consents, and any other necessary function to assure that all infection control practices are in place and followed on a shift-by-shift basis. 
  16. Ensure compliance with all regulations, hospital policies/procedures and protocols to maintain a safe patient care environment. 
  17. Serve as the risk management liaison; channeling issues in accordance with hospital policies/procedures and regulatory requirements. Supports timely and accurate reporting of all patient/visitor incidences, assists monitoring, and supports infection control and security standards established by the organization/department. 
  18. Primary responder and coordinator for emergency situations. Actively supports and is involved in Emergency Operations Plan and other related activities. 
  19. Respond to all emergencies as a key member and coordinates as defined by policies and practices. 
  20. Provide skilled patient care in the Emergency Department and Obstetrics.  
  21. Will be assigned special projects to work on during administrative days.

Qualifications: 

Education & Licensure:  

  • Associate's degree in nursing required 
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred 
  • Current WI RN license required 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire 
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire 
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire 
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire  
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire 

Experience: 

  • 3-5 years of experience in acute care setting 
  • 2 years of Emergency Department preferred  
  • Previous charge or other leadership experience preferred

  • The ability to exercise initiative, judgment, discretion, decision-making, and problem-solving is vital.   
  • Position requires a person who has good leadership, organization and teambuilding skills and a commitment to quality of care.   

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and manage staffing for Hospital Nursing staff for current and the oncoming shifts. 
  • Manage bed placement assignments, monitor, and assist with direct transfer to the facility.  
  • Ensure safe patient assignments 
  • In depth knowledge of policies and procedures. 
  • Serve on the Rapid Response Team and the Code team.  
  • Respond to critical events throughout the St. Croix Campus.  
  • Team leads for incident command set-up 
  • Contact administration or department lead with critical matters 
  • Serves as representative for management on off shifts and weekends.  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times

Description St. Croix Health is seeking a RN Supervisor for our Operating Room team. This position is a full-time (1.0 FTE) exempt position. This position manages the day-to-day operation of the unit to maximize patient safety, clinical outcomes, customer satisfaction and inter-departmental workflow. Participate in various personnel actions including hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities. 5.
