Position Objective:

To provide supervised medical services for patients with emphasis on acute/same day care. All duties are in collaboration with contracted physician; services are provided under the rules regulations, and policies established by the approved job description of the State of Maryland, BPQA, HCFA, AMA, and AAHS.

Job Description Under the general supervision of the Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic Medical Director, Pain Clinic Medical Director, and Chief of Anesthesia, and in accordance with standardized procedures, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) role will work clinically in the Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic (PAC). The Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic is an ambulatory clinic responsible for the preoperative assessment and optimization of patients undergoing surgery. The clinic offers telemedicine and in-person consultations. The NP role provides clinical and operational support to the Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. General responsibilities are obtaining a health history, performing a physical assessment, identifying problems and formulating a plan that includes further diagnostic evaluation, risk stratification and counseling. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Nurse Practitioner 1 (less than six (6) months of experience as an NP): At least one year of recent work in outpatient neurology and/or neurosurgery clinic Nurse Practitioner 2 (at least six (6) months of NP experience): At least two years of recent work in outpatient internal medicine or critical care.
