SAFE RN - Weekend Baylor Day Shift - SANE Department

$1 - $1,000,000 / year

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the RN performs patient care functions as approved by the State of Maine Board of Nursing and St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures. The Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse will provide direct supervision for the shift the RN is assigned.

The Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) staff nurse is responsible for providing compassionate, trauma-informed, patient-centered care to the medical-forensic patient. The SAFE will provide comprehensive care to patients who have experienced sexual assault (adult and pediatric), domestic violence, intimate partner violence, child abuse/neglect, elder abuse/neglect, human trafficking, physical assault, and strangulation. Duties may include consultation and referral to services, medical assessment, care and treatment, medical-forensic exam, medication prophylaxis, documentation of injuries, forensic photography, community partner collaboration, ongoing safety planning, referrals for appropriate follow-up, adhering to mandated reporting laws, maintaining professional standards and clinical expertise as a SAFE, and preparing for and providing fact witness testimony to all cases performed. The SAFE nurse will perform within the emergency department and assist staffing as appropriate to facilitate flow and care for patients when not immediately caring for medical-forensic patients.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: ASN Required, BSN preferred
  • License(s): Current Maine RN license or compact license
  • Certifications (s): BLS current or within 30 days of hire; ACLS current or within 90 days of hire; PALS current or within 1 year of hire
  • Current SAFE Certification or willing to obtain
  • Experience: 1 -3 years preferred

Other Skills Required: Must be a team player, have strong communication skills as well the ability to multi-task

$33.43 - $46.04
