Overview

The Registered Nurse requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences in the application of the nursing process in the respective departments in which assigned. The RN must collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members and students.

Responsibilities

  • Completes patient assessments, formulates plan of care, oversees implementation of plan of care, evaluate and adjust plan of care utilizing critical thinking skills
  • The performance of other nursing acts which are authorized or limited by the board, and which are consistent either with American Nursing’s Association Standards of Practice or with Standards of Practice established by nationally accepted organizations of registered nurses.
  • Care, counsel health teaching and promotion, utilizes Teach Back methodology as affirmation of comprehension
  • The administration of medication, intravenous therapy and treatment as prescribed by a LIP
  • Supervision, delegation and follow-through to other personnel in the performance of activities relating to nursing care.
  • Mentors and precepts students and orient new staff as assigned
  • Reports up chain of command Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager/House Nurse Coordinator pertinent information
  • Participates on various teams, committees or performance improvement initiatives
  • Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, coworkers and self
  • Participates in Discharge Planning and Transition of Care (able to define pt needs)
  • Serves as a patient advocate and escalates patient related concerns timely
  • Timely documents pertinent findings in medical record
  • Assist patients in performing activities of daily living and functions as an active team member
  • Assumes responsibility for personnel professional development
  • Utilizes effective communication skills and active listening, exhibits compassionate and empathetic attitude
  • Practices Hands Off communication utilizing SBAR; Performs Bedside Shift reporting utilizing SBAR (unless contradicted)
  • Functions as a positive influence, role model and adheres to professional code of conduct
  • Respects dignity and confidentiality of all matters relating to patients

  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
  • Training for all personnel assigned to the Emergency Room shall consist of the following:
  • 1.State and federal regulations related to emergency services.
  • 2.Nursing management of trauma.
  • 3.Nursing management of cardiac related disorders.
  • 4.Performance of EKG procedures, EKG interpretation, and appropriate nursing intervention.
  • 5.Pharmacological intervention (IV therapy).
  • 6.Patient assessment (triage).
  • 7.Nursing management of pediatric emergencies.
  • 8.Medicolegal aspects, particularly related to proper documentation.
  • 9.Nursing management of obstetrical emergencies.
  • 10.Patient/family emotional response.
  • 11.Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway management.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Up to 1 year Preferred Minimum of one (1) year acute care nursing experience (1) year of experience should be relevant to specific department in which they will be working. Refer to addendums for additional requirements. Experience with Electronic Health Record Preferred. Preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with providers at all levels essential.
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally and effectively influence others to achieve necessary outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction and facilitate a working environment conducive to change, enabling positive outcomes in a highly complex system.

Registered Nurse (RN)- Day Shift Weekends

New Pay scale Rotation every other weekend POSITION PURPOSE: Organizes and directs assigned unit duties to provide quality nursing care to residents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: • Responsible during the shift for the total nursing care of residents in the assigned unit. • Assumes responsibility for compliance with Federal, State, Local, and company regulations. • Explains procedures and treatments and care plan to resident. • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. • Transcribes physician's orders. • Charts progress notes in an informative, factual manner that reflects the care administered as well as the resident's response to care. • Receives /gives report from/to nurse he /s he is relieving/coming on and records sufficient infonnation and implements appropriate follow-up action as necessary • Follows established procedures for charting and reporting all reports of incident/accidents for res idents and employees. • Conducts frequent rounds to evaluate effectiveness of care delivery. • Prepares equipment and a ids Physician during treatment and exami nation of resident. • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs ofr esident. • Observes resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physic ian of resident ' s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents . • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from nonnal and assess condition of resident. • Responds to emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol. • Assists in completion of the care plans (acute and long term) and is involved in the care conferen ce as deemed necessary. • Participates, reports to DON/ Administrator and conducts (as appropriate) investigations related to any alleged abuse. • Ensures that documentation i·s reflective of the care plan and that the approaches on the care plan are being followed. • Assures that assigned CNAs are aware of the resident care plan, and ensure that the nursing assistant refers to the care plan prior to administering care. • Monitors that CNA documentation is completed daily . • Takes report from CNAs to facilitate accurate documentation in resident medical record. • Follows company policy and procedure in the event a restraint must be utilized. • Coordinates residents' rehabilitation program with therapists to ensure 24 hour rehabilitation needs are met. • Identifies residents at risk for nutritional problems and implements preventative measures. • Records new/changed diet orders. Forwards information to the Dietary Department. • Makes beds, bathes and feeds resident, when necessary. • Assures documentation is accurately completed for admission, discharge and transfer. • Supervises and evaluates implementation of the "Resident's Rights". • Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities. • Follows facility procedure requesting supplies and charges for items ordered through Central Supply. • Participates and attends periodic in-services and staff meetings. • Perform additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION/ REQUIREMENTS: Current State of LVN/LPN with a minimum of 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good standing in the state registry is required.
