Position Overview:
Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a dedicated part-time Infusion Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. Participates in companywide quality initiatives. Supports and adheres to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Assesses and records patient data pre and post infusion therapy as indicated per protocol, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes.
- Assesses patients for changes in condition.
- Maintains knowledge of reimbursement procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage.
- Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting providers regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management. Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
- Administers all medications using correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy and other medications, to include, but not limited to: venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices.
- Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.
- Triages patient phone calls as needed.
- Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy.
- Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs all other duties/responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements.
- Business Experience – 3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred Specialized Knowledge/Skills – Oncology certification preferred

This position requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Salary Range DOE: $40.70-63.49
