Highlights of the Position

  • Located at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center in Cortland, NY, this Advanced Practice Provider role combines outpatient gastroenterology practice with inpatient and emergency department consult support as needed.
  • This is a primarily weekday, daytime position with no call and the opportunity for a 4- or 5-day schedule based on candidate fit and operational need.
  • The APP will care for adult patients with a broad range of GI conditions, including office-based evaluation and management, follow-up care, patient education, medication management, and pre-/post-procedure support.
  • The role also includes consultative coverage responsibilities when needed, particularly for inpatient and ER evaluations, making this a strong fit for an APP who is comfortable with adult medicine complexity and can work effectively across settings.
  • You will work alongside GI physician leadership, fellow APPs, nursing, and practice operations within an integrated healthcare system serving a diverse patient population in Cortland and the surrounding region.

Candidate Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with current national certification
  • Eligible for New York licensure, prescriptive authority, and DEA; current BLS required and ACLS preferred
  • Prior experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, hospital medicine, consultative care, or another adult medicine setting is strongly preferred
  • APPs with GI lab, endoscopy, or other relevant procedural support experience are encouraged to apply
  • New graduates may be considered only if they bring substantial relevant prior clinical experience and a demonstrated readiness for specialty practice
  • Excellent clinical judgment, patient education skills, documentation habits, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach are essential
