Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 20 years of age
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Kansas
Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
3–6 months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and training
Preferred:
Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric settings
Position Summary
As an LPN in our inpatient psychiatric facility, you will deliver hands-on, compassionate nursing care to individuals navigating acute mental health challenges. You will play a vital role in maintaining patient safety, administering medications, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
This role requires clinical precision, emotional intelligence, and the ability to respond effectively in both routine and urgent situations. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized treatment plans and create a structured, therapeutic environment where patients can stabilize and begin recovery.
What You Will Do
Administer medications using barcode scanning technology and monitor medication records
Observe, assess, and document patient conditions in the electronic health record (EHR)
Respond to minor injuries and urgent medical needs within scope of practice
Monitor vital signs, collect lab specimens, and coordinate medical appointments
Communicate effectively with providers, pharmacies, and care teams
Assist with admissions, discharges, and patient transitions
Support patients with daily living activities including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility
Lead or assist in psychoeducational and hygiene groups
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and care coordination
Utilize de-escalation techniques and support crisis intervention efforts
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and all regulatory standards
Maintain accurate, timely documentation before the end of each shift

Physical Requirements
This role requires active, hands-on work. You will regularly stand, walk, and engage with patients throughout your shift. Responsibilities include lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally, as well as bending, reaching, and assisting with patient mobility. Strong situational awareness and physical readiness are essential in a psychiatric care setting.
