Pay Range: $19.32 - $28.07 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Overview This role pays an additional $1.75/hour as a float differential! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Cleans exam rooms, obtains lab specimens. Assists the physicians and other staff as needed. Selects appropriate equipment prior to collection to streamline process. Verifies specimen orders per department policy Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters and assists LIP as requested. Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and all relevant forms for any testing performed and maintains statistics as assigned Performs thoroughly all clerical duties as needed, including but not limited to patient registration, answering phones, scheduling appointments, initiating, maintaining and filing medical records and timely distribution of reports. Performs electrocardiograms and other relevant tests including point of care testing following established policies and procedures and universal precautions. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Documents medical information in electronic medical records including medication and refill information and patient call documentation, keeps rooms stocked and organized. Organizes paperwork and filing. Coordinates with front office personnel and ancillary staff in professional and positive manner in adherence of policies and procedures in support of patient service. Assists in front office functions as assigned including but not limited to: Checkout/in duties with claim creation and assuring complete process of discharge paperwork, referrals, patient education, appointments, insurance eligibility etc. Performs other selected clinical and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of a provider and manager in accordance with the objectives and policies of Capital Health (CH) and respective state laws governing such action and activities. Cross-trained to perform Patient Reception Rep job duties as needed. New Jersey Prescription Monitoring Program (NJPMP)- uploads a notarized "request for access" form and a copy of their State-accepted Certified Medical Assistant certificate; performs NJPMP monitoring under the direction of the LIP (Licensed Independent Practitioner). Performs injections, subcutaneous or intramuscular; performs duties in accordance with Capital Health policies. Performs other selected clinical and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management within any CH office location under the direction of a provider and manager in accordance with the objectives and policies of Capital Health (CH) and respective state laws governing such action and activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Incumbents working in Primary Care or Specialty Care offices may be assigned to other Capital Health Medical Group Practices as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the National Healthcare Association (NHA), or its successor, The Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association (CAHEA), or its successor; Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or its successor; or any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The educational program shall include, at a minimum, 330 clock hours of instruction and shall encompass training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and instruction and demonstration in: pertinent anatomy and physiology appropriate to injection procedures; choice of equipment; proper technique, including sterile technique; hazards and complications; and emergency procedures. Must maintain current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), the National Certification Medical Association (NCMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or any other recognized certifying body approved by the board. Pay Range: $41.60 - $61.46 Position Overview ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Coordinates the overall functions of the Patient Logistics department and Transfer Center in conjunction with the Manager. Coordinates bed flow and transfer center functions through the management of the capacity management board as well as the CAD system. Provides daily operational oversight and decision making of patient flow activities throughout Capital Health by collaborating with Patient Access, Emergency and Surgical Services departments, as well as physician offices, in assessing, planning and implementing patient flow activities to promote patient and customer satisfaction. Communicates with clinical unit staff regarding transfers and admissions and facilitates timely movement of the patient. Collaborates with the physician, care manager, and floor staff to ensure timely coordination of discharge and transfer. Communicates and collaborates with physicians regarding transfer orders as needed. Assesses patient status/acuity to facilitate the efficient movement of patients through the hospital system by prioritizing inpatient admissions, critical care admissions, and internal/external transfers. Serves as an expert clinical resource for patient placement by ensuring smooth functioning of the Logistics Center process to reduce wait times and avoid unnecessary movements of patients. Serves as contact person for capacity management as it relates to admissions and transfers. Ensures throughput on units and compliance with transfer process through management of people and process. Delegates tasks appropriately and employs resources as needed to ensure high quality and efficient care related to patient flow. Identifies and anticipates barriers to discharge/patient flow activities and works to ensure throughput in ED, inpatient units and compliance with transfer process through management of people, metrics and process improvement. Activates the Hospital Surge/Capacity plan based on the guidelines established and works to initiate/activate/manage/close identified overflow patient care areas. Reviews blocked and closed beds daily to complete daily closed bed report with bed numbers and reasons for closure. Monitors inpatient bed status and upgrades bed cleaning status via bed tracking system to expedite patient flow to a clean bed. Coordinates with Transport and Environmental Services supervisors to expedite patient flow. Monitors patient movement within and outside CH to ensure timely and efficient transfers of patients to avoid additional unnecessary length of stay. Coordinates the transport of patients to and from Capital Health facilities. Coordinates the transfer of patients that need emergent or non-emergent Neurological, Trauma, Cardiac or other specialized medical services at Capital Health. Facilitates physician to physician communications for admission to a Capital Health facility or out of Capital Health for transfer. Dispatches and tracks Wheelchair, BLS, and SCT services using computer aided dispatch (CAD) or outsource requests to contracted agencies. Requests Uber transportation for discharged patients. Coordinates with the County 9-1-1 Communications Center and Capital Health EMS units or supervisors. Receives updates from Capital Health facilities reporting diversion status and reports the status to various County and State agencies. Communicates openly and effectively by providing ongoing education to the health care team on the overall patient flow strategy on rationale for patient placement. Uses effective and appropriate communication styles with colleagues. Promotes team momentum, enthusiasm and pride. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate's degree and graduate from accredited school of nursing. Experience : Four years' experience in an acute care hospital setting to include minimum Telemetry experience. Critical Care experience preferred. Other Credentials : AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse - NJ Knowledge and Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to communicate effectively and utilize effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills to support a cohesive multidisciplinary team and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
