Assists with meals and feeds patients, ambulates, turns, and positions patients, and provides fresh water and nourishment between meals. Administers enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, therapeutic and sitz baths, and applies restraints. Performs sugar and acetone urine testing, specimen collection, and post-mortem care. Answers patients’ call lights and requests promptly. Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and staff and transports patients and equipment. Reports patient conditions to the assigned nurse to ensure professional assessment. Measures and records food and liquid intake and output and checks and records vital signs. Provides patient help with walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed. This includes on-call , weekends, and cross coverage. Provides and coordinates patient teac hing and counseling Able to collaborate with physicians and other providers regarding the care of a patient receiving treatment in the CTU and in all settings, outpatient and i npatient. Assures appropriate medical documentation according to Medical Staff policies/bylaws . Respond s to emergencies and/o r rapid response s. Assures the patient is transferred to the appropriate physician/specialty/hospital for continuation of care or when a higher level of care is necessary . Collaborate s with pharmacy , nursing staff , and other disciplines to optimize the quality of care and time of the patients treated at CTU. Refer s to support services when needed .
