What you will be doing Competencies/Duties: Travel to Westchester 2x per month Provide clinical consultation, assessment, and management to patients. Conduct outpatient evaluation, treatment and follow-up of surgical patients as directed by the supervising physician. Provide pre and post-operative and discharge education to patients and family members with regards to safety issues when applicable (e.g., medication, post-operative precautions, use of equipment, etc.). Review/interpret patient imaging and lab results; communicate results to patients and provide follow-up treatment and education. Communicate effectively and appropriately when educating patient/family in regard to their medical condition and/or hospital course. Document progress patient has made toward desired outcomes. Utilize the computerized order communication system, including transcription of medical orders, retrieval of test results and documentation of results. Maintain clear and legible history and physical documentation and all other written reports. Work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Complete any relevant patient paperwork such as medication prior authorizations, plan of care, etc. Potential to assist surgeon in operating room. Promote cooperation through teamwork. Other duties as needed for effective and safe patient care. Qualifications: NP licensure, BLS/ACLS certification and NCCPA board certification are required. Nurse Practitioner candidate must have graduated from an accredited NP program and have current NYS licensure. BLS/ACLS certification and ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) certification are required. Previous experience in orthopedics is highly desired but not required. Candidate must have current Infection Control Certification and have completed a child abuse recognition course. The NP must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. It is essential that the candidate possess strong clinical skills.
