Adheres to safety policy wearing protective equipment while cleaning and reports any needed repairs directly to charge nurse. Follows Isolation Precautions per policy. Trash and linens are bagged per policy and placed in soiled utility room, cleans and sanitizes all equipment and as needed to include stretchers, wheelchairs, carts, IV poles etc.

The role builds upon general advanced provider training and skill sets by requiring specialty focus in women’s services, chemotherapy management, and pre-and post-surgical follow-up. The APP maintains a case load of patients and bills appropriately for services rendered. Clinical support duties, under the supervision of a GYN Oncologist, include accurate preparation of chemotherapy orders, monitoring and evaluating progress of patients under treatment, rounding on patients, first call triage to appropriate surgical or medical coverage, and ongoing monitoring of patients on clinical protocols by working closely with GYN ONC clinical research coordinator. The APP is required to meet all regulatory and compliance aspects of the role and to participate in quality and revenue cycle improvement activities. Position Summary The Telfair Breast Surgery NP/PA works under the clinical supervision of the TBS Breast Specialty Surgeons and administrative supervision of the Director, Telfair Ambulatory Services. The role builds upon general nurse practitioner training and skill sets by requiring specialty focus in Breast Diseases with particular focus on high risk for breast cancers and breast cancer surgical patients, treatment management, and pre-and post-surgical follow-up. The NP/PA maintains a case load of patients and bills appropriately for services rendered. Under the direct clinical supervision of the TBS Medical Director and the partner surgeons, the TBS NP/PA will run a high risk clinic for patients qualifying for high risk for breast cancer management. Clinical support duties, under the supervision of TBS surgeons, include appropriate ordering of diagnostic work up studies per high risk management protocols, monitoring and evaluating progress of patients under surveillance, rounding on patients, first call triage, and ongoing monitoring of patients on clinical protocols by working closely with clinical research coordinator. The NP/PA is expected to bill appropriately and maintain all licensures and privileges to do so. The NP/PA is required to meet all regulatory and compliance aspects of the role and to participate in quality and revenue cycle improvement activities. This includes ordering diagnostic testing, clinical procedures, genetic testing, and working closely with physicians to design a plan of care and surveillance milestones, and following up with patients regarding communication of plan, compliance, and ongoing management. Conducts comprehensive holistic wellness and illness assessments and employs evidence-based clinical practice guidelines in care of patients. Provides leadership for collaborative, evidence-based revision of diagnoses and plans of care, to improve patient outcomes. Develops evidence-based clinical interventions and systems to achieve defined patient and system outcomes. Appropriately assess and managers patients; accurately prepares procedure and diagnostic orders, monitors, and evaluates patient progress, promptly responding to changes in patient status. Works under the guidance of surgical oncologists. Routinely attends available continuing educational programs in order to maintain competencies as an oncology nurse practitioner and stays current with advancements in oncology patient management. Adheres to prescription drug or device order guidelines in any health care setting in accordance with regulations. Compliant with all standards of practitioner requirement.
