Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for receiving and analyzing laboratory specimens and reporting results in a timely manner in accordance with Laboratory Policies and Procedures. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Training should have included at least 12 months in a structured training program with clinical internship in a hospital setting. 2. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related laboratory science; or Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Plus 10 years of work experience required. 2. Registered Clinical Laboratory Science – certified by national registry such as CLS(MLS), MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), MT(AMT) is required within six months of hire. 3. Techs newly certified as of 2004, are required to participate in a Certification Maintenance Program to continue certification every 3 years. Failure to participate will invalidate certification after the initial 3 year certification period. Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village, a 48-bed facility, will more that double Norman Regional Health System’s inpatient capacity for adult and senior behavioral health patients and add new services, including an intensive outpatient program and a dedicated geriatric behavioral health unit. The freestanding hospital will be located on the Norman Regional Porter campus and replace the existing 20-bed behavioral health unit. The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) supports the nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu by performing routinely assigned tasks and carrying out patient care activities within the scope of the BHT's training and experience. The BHT will maintain a safe and professional standard for patient care in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and performance improvement standards. CASUAL -NIGHTS Scope of Work To monitor noninvasive cardiac activity and other clinical parameters of patient populations ranging from adolescence to geriatric by continuous electrocardiographic display and pulse oximetry. The Care Giver/Med Tech role includes providing hands on care, physical and emotional support to each resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home like environment. Responsibilities: Care Giver: Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; knows where their residents are and physically checks on them throughout the shift. Observes, reports and documents symptoms and conditions of residents for changes in condition such as skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary and participation in activities. Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly. Notifies supervisor and/or Health Care Coordinator if a resident has increased care needs. Assists with continence management and disposes of all continence products properly to ensure sanitation of resident suite and community restrooms. Serves and collects food trays and assists as needed; reports refusal of meals or loss of appetite. Maintains cleanliness of resident’s room and work areas. Practices good standard care precautions of cleanliness, hygiene and health. Helps residents maintain independence, promotes dignity and physical safety of each resident. Assists/observes medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass. Documents and initials form as medications are given including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses. Maintains confidentiality of all resident information including resident medication. Reports all resident concerns made while assisting resident with the medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator (HCC). Restocks medication cart after all medication passes. Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system. Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift. Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications. Follows re-fill process for medications. Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates. Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
