The TEMP Psych RN provides nursing care to patients on each clinical unit as assigned, utilizing the nursing process. Patient population serviced includes both adolescents and adults. Essential Job Responsibilities: Utilizing the nursing process, the RN develops an initial nursing treatment plan for each admitted patient. Competent in assessing, planning, and delivering care for patients with co-occurring disorders. The nurse continually assesses and reassesses the patient’s medical and psychiatric status and changing needs. Participates with other team members in planning and implementing the patient’s treatment plan. Directs and participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu. Nurses are drawn to the cath lab, not only for the wide variety of procedures we perform, but also for the cutting edge procedures we provide to patients. Our nurses become experts in caring for a large array of patients including, but not limited to, (patients with) Impellas ; IABP’s; swan- ganz catheters; ECMO; management of unstable/declining patients, including medication management. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Assess resident conditions to implement intervention and develop Care Plans. Accurately record resident observations in PCC and follow through on Care Plans. Assure facility medical records policies and procedures are adhered to. Make regular rounds of residents independently and with a physician; observe and evaluate resident symptoms, progress, and reactions to treatments and medications and implements interventions as necessary. Provide preventative, supportive, maintenance, and rehabilitative care directed to the physiologic and psychosocial needs and well-being of residents. Provide care to residents by performing a variety of treatments, including changing dressing, cleansing and/or irrigating wounds and incisions, performing Foley Catheter irrigations, IV therapy, and administering tube feedings, chest tubes and peritoneal dialysis. Your home unit would be Aspen, a high acuity adult focused unit. However, depending on staffing and census, you will always be the first to float to other units in need. An RN is responsible and accountable to perform the nursing process as a basis for patient care. RNs provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Assesses person’s served care needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassesses plan of care according to person’s served care needs. In collaboration with the physician, provides/coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups of person’s served. Assists in the teaching of persons’ served families, and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates persons’ served families/significant others in discharge/after care planning needs. Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Responsible to monitor for and report to the physician(s) any potential risk to person’s served safety that could lead to an adverse outcome. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse person’s served populations. Identifies specific person’s served needs and implements person’s served centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader, delegating/coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Gives input into process for improvement. May be responsible in training direct care staff. May be indirectly responsible for oversight of medication and physical health activities in a program. May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. In the community residential setting required to support and promote a recovery focused environment and person-centered approach within the program. Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training. What Does the Role Require? Education/Experience: Licensed to practice in the state of Michigan, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred. May be required to have professional knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory as required through completion of education from an accredited school of nursing. Satisfactory previous clinical experience. Work Schedule : This position is onsite and may require both weekend and holiday hours.
