Ensures availability of x-rays, lab slips, medical records and other pertinent info. Obtains vitals, weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature, performs EKGs, injections and/or phlebotomy, and assists providers. Performs departmental screening, lab tests and specimen collection. Implements quality control standards. Assists with procuring medical records. Ensures patient records and relevant documents filed in the record have appropriate patient identification. Adds new medications to patient record in EMR system. Assemble records according to BIDHC/APG policy and handle requests for patient information according to established guidelines. Required Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Certificate 1 Medical Assistant Certificate required. 1-3 years related work experience required. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access. Preferred Qualifications: 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care setting. Competencies: Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers. Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers. Performs and follows through in all indicated orders from physician. Assists with sample medications and sample medication logs. Arranges and administers any necessary patient testing or admission. Obtains appropriate referrals required. Retrieves test results as needed and notifies patient. Assists physician in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals. Obtains appropriate consents before all invasive procedures or immunizations are preformed. Distributes patient education materials as directed. Assists in patient instruction and ascertains patient understanding regarding treatment and medication usage. Performs laboratory tests and treatments as prescribed. Assists in maintaining laboratory log. 4. Ensures all patient care areas, equipment and materials are appropriately stocked and maintained. IU Methodist's Behavioral Health Services includes B8, C8, Secured Holding and ECT. B8 is an 20-bed medical surgical unit. This secured medical floor treats patients who present with primary medical diagnosis and secondary psychiatric diagnosis. This unit provides the opportunity to work on both medical and psychiatric skills. Our primary diagnoses include patients dealing with alcohol withdrawal, Alzheimer/dementia, altered mental status, and other mental health issues. C8 is a 16-bed locked psychiatric unit that focuses on patients who present with primary psychiatric diagnosis. Diagnoses include a wide range of mental health issues include schizophrenia, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and psychosis. Secured Holding is a 5-bed emergency psychiatric unit with patients who present to the emergency department for mental health issues. Patients are assessed and placed in an appropriate level of care. ECT is one of the only ECT programs in the state. We use electroconvulsive therapy primarily to treat depression and catatonia. We treat 18-24 patients, three days a week. Nurses hired into Behavioral Health are cross trained and work in all our areas. Nursing skills gained on this unit Excellent de-escalation skills CPI certification Wide variety of medical skills which include blood administration, IVIG, trach care, PCA pumps, wound management systems Time management in a fast-paced environment Cross-training to multiple areas Knowledge of practice under both a medically licensed area and a behavioral health licensed area Qualifications: Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus 8111 S Emerson Ave Indianapolis, Indiana 46237 WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Franciscan Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to meet the growing demand for Bone Marrow Transplant services at Indiana Blood & Marrow Transplantation located at the Franciscan Cancer Center in Indianapolis, IN. APP will be joining an established, collegial team of three physicians and two APPs. Indiana Blood & Marrow Transplantation (IBMT) program is one of only two FACT accredited programs in the State of Indiana performing over 100 transplants a year. The program offers both Allogeneic & Autologous transplants as well as cellular therapy for hematological malignancies including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma as well as autoimmune disorders. IBMT is a National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) collection center for Bone Marrow & Peripheral Blood Stem Cells. There is a Stem Cell processing laboratory on site. The program has both inpatient and outpatient services. Immune Effector Cell Therapies and Clinical Research are also part of the program. WHAT WE NEED: Bone Marrow Transplant, Hematology and/or Oncology experience preferred, but not required. Ideal candidate would thrive in a fast-paced environment and be team oriented. The candidate will need to work collaboratively with physician to coordinate and deliver the highest quality of patient care. Candidate should have a desire to develop exemplary professional relationships with patients and the community in which they serve. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: Flexible 5-day work week full-time schedule Experience in bone aspiration and biopsy preferred, but not required.
