Job Description The Registered Nurse provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way, incorporating differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum to include patient and family education. Relies on education and training to complete responsibilities within scope of licensure as registered nurse. #CB Responsibilities Patient Care and Coordination of Care Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care to students with acute illness and injuries within Health Centers in Schools nursing guidelines. Refer students to school resource or hospital emergency room when appropriate. Evaluate & update immunization records of every student enrolled in the school. Initiate and update student's plan of care as requested by Pupil Appraisal Services or Exceptional Student Services within established guidelines. Perform hearing and vision screens. Administer medications according to Nursing Protocol and physician's orders. Collaboration and Partnership Orient new employees and serve as a mentor. Communicate with parent/guardian, support staff and school faculty as necessary concerning the student's health status while maintaining confidentiality. Provide preventive health education and counsel students, families and school staff on issues relating to the child's health. Attend team staff meeting and other related staff events. Attends schools Open House. Quality Meet assignment, attendance and punctuality standards. Meet or exceed HCS productivity standard written for current school year. Documentation of weekly supervisory visits with School Health Assistants Responsible for maintaining Continuing Education according to LSBN guidelines. Other duties Perform other related duties as assigned.
