Hours are Monday-Friday 11:00a-7:300p Responsibilities Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.) Assist providers during examination and treatment Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping Ensure accuracy in documentation Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies. Key Responsibilities Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed. Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care. Additional Details We are looking for a full time Day LPN to join our clinical team at Macomb County Jail. This position works 7a - 7:30p and EOW. Qualifications & Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
