Description Full Time Nights, 7pm-7:30am, with rotating weekends Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (2A) 26-bed unit designed to provide treatment, care, and service to adult patients with acute medical, surgical and cardiac conditions specializing in complicated surgeries. Patient population will include but are not limited to esophagectomies, whipples, surgical-oncology cases, high-volume liposuction, multi-level spinal fusions, and vascular cases. Other opportunities for this unit will be any surgical patients that require a medication drip that is not appropriate for the medical-surgical inpatient unit. This unit will also be open to medical step-down and overflow patients to enhance hospital throughput. Direct care of the 2A patients will be provided by registered nurses with an ideal ratio of 1:3-4 patients for step down level of care. The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice. Responsibilities: Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes. Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care. Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communications with patients, families, and others. Offer Based on Years of Experience What You Need to Know Be the Best Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner You Can Be If you meet these qualifications, we would love to meet you: Graduated from an approved school of professional nursing One year experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of agency operation Active DEA license in the state where care is being provided. Possess and maintain valid CPR certification while employed in a clinical role, preferred Must be a licensed driver who can travel to all business locations Meet the regulations and requirements of the state(s) in which program provides services Responsibilities: As a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, you will: Develop and implement clinical plans of care for patients with chronic and terminal illnesses Perform patient assessment, history and physical; recommendations on aggressive symptom-management Monitor patient progress; update the Medical Director, Team Director and team members; consult regarding discharge plannning; and patient/family teaching Maintain communication with the supervisory physician (s) and attending physician to review patient records and care plans on a routine basis Initiate communication with attending physicians, other Palliative Care staff members and other agencies as needed to coordinate optimal care and use of resources for patient/family May provide support at time of death Prescribe medication as permitted by the state and/or the State Board of Nursing Participate in continum of care for patients that are hospice appropriate and ongoing education programs. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Birthplace. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Provides for a safe environment for patients and visitors. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state RN License. 2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred 3. BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current 4. ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current 5. NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current 6. Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintain current 7. AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months 8. AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred 9.
