Position Responsibilities · Provides leadership and oversight for all nursing operations within the assigned unit, ensuring continuous, high-quality care, patient satisfaction, and efficient resource management. · Participates in and/or leads cross functional teams and is willing to make rapid and sound changes for the medical center to be a National and International Leader in clinical outcomes. · Plans, organizes and directs activities of the assigned unit through the management of the team leaders and charge nurses. · Organizes the establishment of new processes and/or re-modeling of existing ones to achieve the unit and Medical Center goals. · Ensures all processes and procedures provide for consistent, timely, high quality and cost-effective clinical results. · Ensures an efficient patient flow process. · Responsible for maintaining and improving clinical care within the assigned unit towards the goal of being rated among the best in the United States. · Creates, integrates and initiates new concepts and practices to improve patient and family care as well as physician and employee satisfaction. · Provides leadership in complex and/or stressful situations, counsels staff based on factual and objective information. Ensures timely and appropriate actions for resolution. · Identifies staffing patterns to cover the unit’s needs around the clock. Sets and monitors staff schedules in relation to patient acuity, census, technology and resources management to meet budgetary needs. · Assesses and improves the services provided within the unit by implementing the Performance Improvement Program. Monitors and enforces the activities related to performance improvement and quality control. · Establishes and maintains Medical Center Safety and compliance policies. · All other duties as assigned. Qualifications · Florida RN License · BLS required · CNOR preferred · Graduated from an accredited school of nursing, BSN Required, MSN, Business, Health Administration or related field is strongly preferred. · 5 years of leading experience in an Operating room or related healthcare operational role and ten years in nursing/healthcare. The incumbent conducts initial, concurrent and retrospective chart reviews for clinical utilization and authorization. The Utilization Review Case Manager coordinates with the healthcare team for optimal and efficient patient outcomes, while avoiding treatment delays and authorization denials. They are accountable for a designated patient caseload and provide intervention and coordination to decrease avoidable delays, at all times they provide communication of progress and or determination to the clinical team and or the patient. He/she monitors care and acts as a liaison between patient/family, healthcare personnel, and insurers. Evaluates the needs of the patient, the resources available, and recommends and facilitates for the best outcome to meet ongoing patient needs that encourages compliance with medical advice. CORE FUNCTIONS: Adhere and perform timely prospective review for services requiring prior authorization as well as timely concurrent review for continuation of care services Follows the authorization process using established criteria as set forth by the payer or clinical guidelines Accurate review of coverage benefits and payer policy limitations to determine appropriateness of requested services Refers to the treatment plan for clinical reviews in accordance with established criteria and guidelines Facilitates communication of denials and or Peer to Peer requests between payers and the healthcare team Identifies potential delays in treatment or inappropriate utilization by reviewing the treatment plan, serves as a resource to provide education regarding payer policies and assists with coordination of alternative treatment options Ensures and Maintains effective communication regarding authorization status and determination to the clinical team and on occasion the patient. Proactive communication with leadership regarding barriers and or potential delays in care Identifies opportunities for expedited requests and prioritizes caseload accordingly Maintains knowledge regarding payer reimbursement policies and clinical guidelines.
