University Hospitals, in partnership with NewBridge Cleveland, is offering a new Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program to obtain the education and skills needed to become a Medical Assistant. Class is scheduled to start in September 2026 . Medical Assistants are multi-skilled, multi-tasking health care professionals who are educated not only in clinical skills allowing them to provide direct patient care, but also in administrative medical clerical office procedures. Selected candidates will be hired into paid full time positions where 50% of the time will be attending in-person medical assisting training at centrally located NewBridge, located in Downtown Cleveland. The other 50% will be in clinical/administrative practice here at UH. The 10-month, 1,200 hour program prepares students to sit for and obtain a National Healthcare Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant upon program completion at which time, participants will be eligible for promotion to a UH Medical Assistant. We currently have sufficient interest to fill openings for the cities on the Eastside of Cleveland. We are looking for participants currently residing within 30 minutes of the Westside (or far south) of Cleveland. Potential practice locations include but are not limited to: Elyria, Fariview, North Ridgeville, Avon and Avon Lake, Ravenna, Strongsville, Kent, and Tallmadge.
